About Author

Ruby Hardin Liggins embarked on her professional journey in the corporate sector immediately after earning her Bachelor of Education degree from Langston University, an esteemed HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities) in Oklahoma. During her time at Langston, she was honored as Miss Langston University, which provided her with invaluable experience as a spokesperson for the institution, fostering her advocacy skills.

Inspired by her mother-in-law, Judy Liggins, Ruby discovered her true calling as an educator. In 2010, she transitioned to teaching in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was mentored by three seasoned educators—Patricia Griffin, Janice Armstrong, and Dalores Featherstone. Their innovative teaching strategies and classroom management techniques greatly influenced Ruby’s own educational methods, enabling her to motivate students and achieve significant improvements in their academic performance.

Ruby’s commitment to education led her to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from Belhaven University in Memphis, Tennessee. This advanced study fueled her passion for developing effective reading and writing strategies tailored to children’s needs. Her dedication to improving student outcomes was evident in her impressive state testing results, with proficiency rates climbing from 70% to 95% over the years.

Since retiring, Ruby has shared her expertise and educational tools with educators across Tennessee and Georgia. Her mission is to equip teachers with resources that simplify the process of fostering student growth, particularly in writing.

Ruby’s innovative approaches and mentorship have left a lasting impact on the educational community, empowering both teachers and students to achieve their full potential.
